Broken Leatherman Super Tool 300

Yesterday I was removing the thumb stud on my Cold Steel Recon 1 to strip the coating and took out my ST 300 to take it off. I used the small flat blade and started to turn with some force cause it was nice and tight and felt something weird. I took it out and looked at the driver and the tip was sheared half off.

Has anyone else had this problem or broken a bit on a Leatherman like this before?

No doubt someone has. You can give Leatherman's 25 year warranty a try. They will probably give you some love, but you never know since the driver was being used as a pry tool and not a driver.

Edit: I looked at their 2011 catalog, and it says that the warranty is "no hassles, no questions, and no wasting your time." So just go to the Leatherman website, click on Customer Service, and go from there. I have a Juice S2 that needs to go back because the plier jaws no longer line up.

I have no doubt that they will either fix it or send you a new one. I've never heard of Vic nor Leatherman's every denying warranty claims.

I would guess the thumbstud was LocTited . FYI , boiling water , or a lite touch with a soldering iron will weaken the bond . On a Loctited thread , any dedicated driver could also break . As a general rule most thumbstuds are loctited .

Snapped the screwdriver blade on my Super Leatherman (prying, dumb) and they fixed it, no questions asked.
