Anyone know of a way to attempt a fix on not woking laptop keys?
My "R" and "z" keys have been not working well for a couple of weeks now, and it's starting to iitate me. :grumpy:
I really don't want to call India and chat for four hours if I don't have to.

Not working- how? Does it compress and act normally in a physical way, but the keystrokes aren't translated to the computer, or do you mean that the keys are sticky?

Zero

Just replace the keyboard. it's usually a mater of 3 screws that hold the keyboard on. If the computer is out of warranty you can usually get a new laptop keyboard from ebay for $10-20

Um ... if it were anyone else asking I would say pry the key off with two knives or screwdrivers, clean under it, and pop it back on. Considering it's George the Destroyer of Cell Phones ... is there a computer repair shop near you? They could do it for a small fee.

You can buy replacement keyboards for laptops. Give me your make and model # of your laptop and I'll hunt one down for you from my "source". ;)

Actually, I'm pretty good at taking them apart and putting them back together, it's when they'e turned on that I start to have problems.

It compressed normally but it only types some of the time. It wil get going really good whee it doesn't miss a single one, then it will miss ten in a row, especially when there's a double "r". Thee is a lot of crap under the keys though, I'll try cleaning them out.

It's still under warranty, I just don't feel like dealing with them unless I absolutely have to.

Odly enough smashing the hard drive with a wrench was coveed under accidental damage. Although I worded the incident as "a small impact realted mishap." :D

I popped the key off and cleaned it out, it seems to work okay now. The culprit, there was a toenail clipping stuck under there. :D
