Anyone know what the cause might be of a spring carrier breaking. I've seen it once on one of my knives a while back and a buddy just had it happen. Does something get jostled out of place and when you go to fire and tension the spring it breaks? Or too much friction? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

If it's a cheap Chinese OTF, the likely reason is that the part is made/cast from cheap pot metal, or maybe zinc. In other words, something soft, or otherwise highly prone to fracture under repeated stress, even mild stress.

They (the Chinese) just make them to sell, they don't make them to last.

But if it's a quality OTF like a Microtech, first I'd be surprised if it broke, second I imagine they would be eager to fix it.

Do you have pictures by any chance?

I don't at the moment I'm at work, its one of the newer benchmades, he's had it a couple months I think

I believe Benchmade has a lifetime warranty.

Of course there are also A LOT of counterfeit Benchmade OTF autos out there. The Infidel is heavily counterfeited, and unscrupulous vendors/sellers might sell them as the real thing.
