Does anyone know where I can buy a new lockback spring for my Uncle Henry LB7? Thanks in advance for your help!

An independent cutler can likely make you a new spring if you wish, but I think it would be cost prohibitive given the current replacement cost of the knife. Also, there was more than one spring design, the pivot pin placement being changed at one point, so a factory replacement, if one could find such, would have only a 5-/50 chance of being the correct one. And still it would require fitting and cutlering.

Thanks for your ideas. The knife could be replaced with a new one, but those are now made in China and the steel is not as good quality as this knife. I was hoping someone on this forum had experienced this problem previously and had solved it. Hopefully more people will respond. Thanks again.

You can find one that is USA made on eBay for less than it would cost to have it repaired.

The real deal knives were produced for many years and still exist in every condition from relics to good users to new in the box. I can still buy a new U.S.A. made Schrade any day of the week. It isn't like they evaporated in 2004 when the factory closed.

With just one set of keywords in a search for such a knife on ebay a few minutes ago, I turned up 156 knives for sale, nearly all of which are pre-2004 'real' Schrade full-size lockbacks. They are mostly very reasonable. Other keywords would turn up even more.

Exactly. Add to that that collectors of every ilk are realigning their collections constantly and... not a few of us are passing on, our collections coming onto the market. It just takes some searching to find what you are looking for in a condition and completedness which satisfies you and at a price you feel is affordable. I am amazed at how often they come up at near or just over the original MSRP.

GW1108 - You may want to repair the knife, especially if it has sentimental value. Here are links to several threads I found that discuss the fix that would give your LB7 the same type of robust spring system used forever in the Buck 110.

Before you toss your LB7, I would suggest messaging Orvet (Dale Vincent) and getting a quote on the repair. Good luck!
