Broken Southard in General Knife Forum.

If it's a genuine Southard I would put it down to an anomaly that slipped through QC. Certainly not something I've read about before with regards to the Southard and at this point if it was a design flaw, we would have seen it many times since it's a popular knife. I would imagine that this would get replaced through warranty service.

I've seen threads about these knives being heavily abused with no issues. Someone on this forum recently was opening a can of tuna with one...
I'm not worried about one failure. And the fact that it seems every failure known to anything has been posted on the internet finding a singular incident with this one blade failing is proof of its durability IMO.

opening a can with a knife is far less stressful to the blade than plenty of cutting chores that are deemed "normal". though it does dull the edge easily.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll take it under advisement.
