Broken Tape question

Hi I am looking to take a 1/4 20 tap out of a knife tang the steel I am using is 154 CM...I was thinking for Ferric Chloride but I am curious if it will affect the steel

Heat the tap and drive it out with a punch,wrap the blade with a wet rag to protect it..If you have a oxy acetylene heat it up until the tap starts to burn and turn off the acetylene and the oxygen will blow out the tap...

Take a 1/8" taper punch and sharpen it to a chisle point. Set the chisle tip on the broken tap and give it a sharp smack. Nine times out of ten, this is how I have shattered broken taps. All you do then is remove the pieces.
