I have a buck 110 with a broken tip, what can be done besides what I already did and regind a new tip. Also buck use to make a knife steel with a sheath to carry are these available any where? THanks
Depending on how the tip broke, this might be covered under Buck's famous warranty. Buck also offers blade replacements and upgrades at a very reasonable price if this isn't under warranty. You might want to send an email with more details to Joe Houser, moderator of this forum, and Director of Buck's Consumer Relations. Joe is out of the office until after New Year's but I'm sure he will get back to when he returns.
As to the sharpeners, I think the one you are asking about, I small steel that slide in and out of a metal handle, and came with a leather belt sheath, is no longer available. Buck does offer a number of convenient "field" sharpeners though - check out their web site at www.buckknives.com to see the selection.
BTW - Welcome to the forums.... lots of nice guys and good info here!!!
You already ground off the broken part??? I think if it was me, I'd reject that warrantee claim...
Best bet is email Buck and ask...can't hurt...
There are some on this very Forum who can replace your blade, but the cost of the new blade + labor would likely be greater than Wal-Mart wants for a new 110 (with a bottle opener, packaged in a painted tin box with a nylon sheath)...
Buck can also replace the blade, but again, Wal-Mart...
Thanks LFH - the 137 is the sharpener I was describing but I couldn't for the life of me remember the Model # and I didn't have the time to look it up. If I'm not mistaken, I bought mine on eBay a year or two back. Might be worth a search there....
