Broken tip on my Civivi Conspirator

I broke the tip off my Conspirator in Nitro V. I was a little surprised. I was using it camping, and stuck it in a log while using it. When I pulled it out, the tip was bent. I stuck it back in the to try and straighten it out and it snapped. All my fault, so not bashing the steel or heat treat.

Anyway, I figured this would be a good opportunity to try my hand reprofiling the tip. I used an old bench stone my grandfather gave me recently that I liked 50 years old. I think it turned out kind of cool! I’m open to suggestions though on something different.

Why did you feel the need to stick it in a log?
Lots of things can be buried in wood, knots, nails, staples, more wood

Now your knife has a story to tell, smooth out the broken tip and get to using again
You probably won't miss the very tip, too much

To be honest, I was using it a lot and don’t feel like pocketing it again. Then, after I stuck it in, I kind of wanted to test the tip since it’s in Nitro V. I really love this model, and have a few backups, and I kind of wanted to try regrinding; so I figured I’d the tip broke, no biggie and I would have some fun. And I did lol!

I actually think that looks pretty useful. I tend to gravitate towards work knives (since that is what I use them for) and I stay away from really pointy tips. In the trades myself since '72, you cannot guess how many broken, then reground Buck 110 knives I have seen. The first really accepted "hard work" folding knife I know of that was considered a standard, the tips were almost always broken off in the knife's duty. I saw some great regrinds, and once the pointy, thin tip was gone, the owners were back in business with a great work knife.

I think your knife looks like it is ready to back into the field!
