One of our customers brought me this 2013 110 this morning and said I could have it. The tip was broken off but not so bad I didn't it was I fixable.

I was very appreciative and told him I could probably fix it and make it whole again. So into my back pocket it went until my lunch break.
At lunch time, I made my sandwich and got my little Harbor Frieght belt sander out of the car and went to work. I ground down the blade from the spine end until I got the tip almost where I wanted. Then I did a tiny bit of grinding on the edge side. I'm not completely happy with my swedge grinding abilities but this 110 has a wicked point once again. And while I had the sander out I restored the edge to its former glory. Polished up a little bit and back into my pocket. I cut open boxes with it for the rest of the day. I believe this one is going in a backup sheath on my belt for tomorrow.

Ok, good. Instead of taking the spine down I would have curved the belly up. But your call. DM

Fresh off the buffing wheel. And I found my old Kwick thumbstud until I can install a permanent one.

The only issue I've found with bringing the belly up to the spine is having the tip stick proud of the handle in the closed position. I did that very early on in my knife modification and had problems. But I also didn't want this one to loose that 110 look so I did a small combination of the two. A little spine down and a little belly up. :)

When grinding the belly up method, the kick then needs to be taken down. But it gives more belly. DM

send to Buck for a spa or reblade? or is broken tip a not warranty repair?

That's true, I didn't really think about the kick. :)
Theoretically, a broken tip falls under abuse so it's not a warranty replacement. I'm pretty happy with how this one came out so I'm just going to use it as is. It's on my belt right now ready for the day :)

Nice job. Looks better and less noticeable when the spine side is ground, I dont like the belly most leave when they grind from the cutting edge, making the tip to obtuse.

Hmm, I sent my broken tip 110 to Buck and they replaced the blade for free. Only had to pay shipping to them. They also buffed and polished it, I was very happy with their service and appreciated it very much.

Vba,they will of course warranty the knife and fix it for free if sent in,but to me a broken tip is NOT a warranty claim,it's a user error problem.tips break off a lot when using the knife for other things not related to cutting..
