Sorry for stumbling over here, I normally hide myself away in the Custom forum drooling over forged Bowies and the such. But just recently I have myself a hankering to findout what all the fuss is about with these folder type thingies! :D

I must confess to having so far fallen for a Scott Cook Lochsa, and a Don Morrow Trapper - and I want to add a Sebenza to these fine knives. I will pick up a small seb as a user, but I would also like to look at some of the more select pieces.

The two that have drawn my eye are the Gold Coin series, and the Bronze (?) Damascus pieces - I would be very grateful for any pics that people can post of these types, and also advice on availability - Am I best going to CRK or shopping around in the secondary market? Are these peices still available direct from CRK?

Cheers,

Stephen

My favorite place to look at CRK Sebenzas is at www.truenorthknives.com Just click on high end production knives and then the CRK link. There are some other places around but this is my favorite. As far as the ones you are looking for you can always try ebay. Or ask for one on here, but good luck with that.

There are very fiew gold coin sebenzas. They do not come up very often either here or on ebay in the secondary market. You could always contact CRK to see if there is an future opening available.

I also haven't seen many colored damascas lately so I think you'd have to stick to the secondary market.

Stephen, you have very good taste, IMO. Unfortunately, the ones you are interested in are going to be hard to find. CRK stopped taking new orders for the Bronze (and Blue) finish damascus earlier this year. You will have to find one on the secondary market and they don't come up very often.

The Gold Coin Series ended in 2003. It will be replaced with a Platinum Coin series this year (or next?). I believe there will be only 20 or 21 made and there is a waiting list to get them from CRK. Someone would have to 'drop out' to get in on one. There are probably dealers like True North who may be getting them to resale so you could check with them to see if theirs is spoken for yet. The number of Gold Coin Sebenzas made per year started out at 12 and went up to 20 in the last few years of production. Again, they do not seem to come up for sale very often.

Hope this helps.

David
