Bronze or copper

I have made a few Slip joint folders using a pivot pin but I like the idea of using a bushing instead of the pin. I know that bronze bushings are available online but I have a lathe and some 1/4" copper rod that I believe I could make bushings from. Would copper make an acceptable replacement for bronze?

You will find that copper is much softer than bronze. It is also gummy and a pain the the butt to machine. I would go with bronze, or better yet, stainless steel.

Bronze originally was Copper with about 10% Tin. There is a the Bronze Age came after the Copper Age... Much stronger & improved wear resistance
