I previously had put dark Ti finishes on my knives using oxiclean. I received my starbenza from CRK a few weeks ago from spa treatment and decided to have some fun today. Just yesterday I put a killer 30-32 degrees inclusive edge with the aid of some angle wedges as references. Turns out that I've been typically sharpening my knives at roughly 40-42 degrees which is much more obtuse than what I usually aim for.

As for the finish, I used oxi-clean and hot water. I scrubbed the ti scales clean with hot water and detergent( I had no acetone or rubbing alcohol on hand, but the detergent works well enough) then placed it in the solution. I let it soak probably for a total of almost 5 hours, but to expedite the process I removed the some of the solution every 2 hours or so and added fresh hot water mixed with oxi-clean. I'm pretty happy with the end results and if it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't of known you could get more than dark grey from oxi-clean: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-on-Ti-scales-wicked-color?highlight=oxiclean

PICS!!!

Thanks,

I have a second darkened wilson combat bead and I probably should darken the clip too. I just wanted a before and after contrast.

After several cycles of oxi solution, the Ti scales stop releasing bubbles and is usually a good indicator that you've gotten the most out of the wash.
