Hi all,

About a month ago I saw a YouTube vid about the knife that's the topic of today. I liked the lines, the price too, so I thought what the heck. I don't know anything about the brand other than it is Chinese.
Today she arrived, so here we go.

The Brother 1508 is a wharncliffe style blade. Quite pointy indeed. This one sports white bone scales but there's a carbon fiber version as well. The blade is supposedly VG10, but I guess we'll never know for sure. The swedge is really nice, grinds are very even. I could do with a lot less printing on the blade but it's there so I'll have to deal with it. Here it is in the open position.

The backspring is quite weak when you want to pull it into the halfstop. From the halfstop towzrds the open position, the snap is quite satisfactory.

The pins are very flush with the bone, and the scales are very flush with the bolsters. I'm liking this quite a bit. The liners can feel a bit sharp here and there though. Centering is perfect and there are no noticeable gaps.

Here are some size comparisons with an Opinel 7, Boker Barlow and Case Peanut in the closed position:

If the backspring were a bit stiffer, I would REALLY like this knife. As it is, it's quite nice too. The swedge is really nice. There's no gaps, unlike most of the recent Case knives I have gotten. The bone is nice (to dye or not to dye...) and I love that it doesn't have a shield. That keeps it all nice and clean. Then there's the steel... If it is VG10: awesome! But the future will tell what that is all about. I was mostly attracted by the combination of price point and looks/lines but I'm glad the build quality is there too.

I hope you guys enjoyed my first look on this knife.

G
