Brothers Birthday Present

My brothers birthday is coming up and I am considering getting him the S1 or H1 from Fallkniven with a custom sheath from On/Scene Tactical. However he’s not really into knives so this will be his first “real” knife, He will use it for hunting, fishing and camping and the like so he will need a decent knife out there, this will probably be his only knife with him so it has to be pretty capable of general work. What do you think about the S1 or H1 as a present/first “real” knife? which one of the two would you suggest for him?

I might also consider getting him some of the other Fallkniven line however the H1 and S1 are the two I think he will appreciate the most. :)

if he is a beginner to knives, and your looking for a General purpose outdoor blade, I would strongly reccommend the fallkniven f-1 It's not big enough to be intimidating to a beginner, is tough enough to handle anything and will be a gift that lasts a lifetime, The convex edge can be a bit tricky though. I love my f-1 and if he enjoys his time in the outdoors for a minimal investment he could always team it up with an axe.
 
I own an H-1, its a great knife and i have no fear using it, but for general puropse work id get him an uncoated F-1. The sheath is a nice touch as the sheaths that come with the F-1 arent all that nice (zytel)<---just MHO
But a setup from Eric would be real nice
 
Well, I have decided to get him the S1 with On/Scene sheath for general cutting chores and the U2 for finer work and daily carry. :)

I hope he likes it. :D

Personally I would suggest an FI.. Nothing wrong with either the SI or HI,, however the FI in my opinion makes a better hunting knife for someone who may not be as use to using knives..

The HI is more of an obvious choice ,however being guardless, it has it downfalls and Greater care must be used...

Well, I changed my mind… :rolleyes: :D

I decided that the F1 would be best for him it's just the right size, so I’ll be going with the F1 and the U2 (this time I'm sure) :)
