Second Coldsteel Pipehawk I've modified... It still surprises me when a project I'm working on (not just hawks) takes a life of it's own and you end up with something different than what you planned or envisioned... Only power tools I have is a dremel tool, hand, and arms. So spent a lot of time filing/sanding as the dremel tool is not a precision machine in my hands. The leather work I'm rather proud of as it's been many many many years since I've done any of it.
Used Brownells Oxpho cream for the blueing, was really wanting the blue color this is known for (what I've read) but am very happy with the gun metal color. Screw hole got screwed up with my cheap needle files and used silver to fill. LOL... Don't know if I sanded the handle too much or what but it felt small in my larger hands, since my brothers are roughly the same size I decided to wrap the handle. Used waxed linen with a minor weave and a turks head at the top (I don't advise waxed linen to anyone as it's a minor bitch) also did a turks head at the top in the waxed linen. Both ends have a metal plate (also blued) glued and steel cut nails used to attach. Finished with a nice edge, not quiet shaving sharp but sharp enough for a hawk
Thanks for looking and any comments.
