So the story about Blade 2014 this year for me, is that I went with my Dad. My father can sometimes be a painfully practical man, he's not one to spend big money on something like a pocket knife, he did however drop some coin on a full Wicked Edge system because he can sharpen the kitchen knives with it... Well at Bladeshow this year I talked him into buying a pocket knife that would last him forever, something that would be an heirloom piece... This post is kinda about that.

We spent the first couple hours of Bladeshow wandering around looking at stuff... he kinda liked some customs but they were a little richer than he wanted to spend. Eventually we wound up at the Chris Reeve booth, and Dad decided on a Mnandi with Bocote wood. I know Dad really like Damascus so I asked if they had any with damascus blades, and they said no.......unless you're lefty....which I am.... So both Dad and I left bladeshow with Mnandis...

All in all it was really cool that Dad and I could share this experience. The folks at the CRK booth were awesome, and talked Dad over all the options... Dad loves his knife, as do I...

The other cool thing is that I just received a Large Sebenza 21 with the same Damascus pattern.... I'm starting a healthy little CRK collection I guess...

It's Cocobolo. Really nice looking piece. They pulled out another box for my Dad's Bocote but the grain on the other Mnandi wasn't as nice so he bought the one out of the case. All in all, great knives.

How's the satin finish on the 21's scales holding up? I'm subscribed to you on Youtube and I was drooling over that one, it's a gorgeous combination. I'm definitely looking for a wood inlay as my next CRK piece.

Congrats, its always good to spend some quality time with the ol" man. Its really cool that he got one of the only lefties.

Very nice knives and images, and it's good to hear you and your father had a great time.
Thanks for the pics !

Great story! I got my Mnandi at Blade a few years back, it's my favorite dress knife.
