This Knife Style #148 is ground from 1/8" thick 01 TOOL STEEL bar stock. The FULL TAPERED TANG knife is 9 1/4" long with a 4 ½" blade. The cutting edge of the blade is 4" and has a BEVELED FLAT GRIND. At its widest part (at the belly), the blade is 1 1/4". The handle is BROWN CANVAS MICARTA. This knife also has a BLACK VULCANIZED SPACER. One more feature on this handle is the two (2) 1/4" MOSAIC PINS. These pins have been handmade, by me.
The first time I made this style of knife was back in 2002. That knife, the "prototype" is clipped above my workbench where it is used every day. It is the knife that I grab when I need to cut cardboard, when I cut up the junk mail to throw away, when I need to cut rope, anytime that I need a strong knife I know that this knife will do the job. I am very happy with the knife that I made back in 2002 but when I compare it to THIS knife, I see quite a difference! It's like night and day!
