Bottom line up front: Don't but the brown micarta scaled version of the new S35VN Esee AGK, but do get the orange/blacked G10 version. A couple of years ago I bought an Esee AGK in 1095 with the green micarta scales. The blade design is perfection as a deer field dressing knife and the original micarta scales for it were quite grippy and worked well, albeit a little flat/thin for my tastes. Wanting an AGK in S35VN, I recently purchased the newly released AGK in S35VN with the contoured brown micarta scales. While the S35VN blade is, as is the 1095 version, absolutely spectacular for deer, the brown micarta scales are not adequate for a game knife in my opinion. The brown micarta scales are infused/covered in so much bonding agent (epoxy perhaps) that they are very slick with even a minimal amount of hand sweat, let alone the fluids present with field dressing. This is not safe in that role. Of my 21 Esee knives, this is the only version I've been disappointed with. I promptly returned the brown micarta version of the S35VN AGK and ordered the S35VN AGK with the machined orange/black G10 scales. The machined G10 scales are quite grippy and match the superb functionality of the blade. If you're gonna' get an AGK in S35VN, my advice is to skip the brown micarta version and opt for the orange/black G10 version.
