There was a thread on one of the other forums about spiders. Someone had posted a picture of a black widow they found and I stated that I worried more about brown recluse spiders. Well today it hit home. Our forty three year old nephew just died of one of their bites late this afternoon. He was bitten three days ago and had been in ICU for two days. He was in bad health and his system couldn't fight off the effects of the bite and the infection it caused. Those are some seriously dangerous spiders.

sorry to hear about your nephew. when i was in the military the brown recluse was one we had to watch out for. very dangerous spiders.

Our area has agressive house spiders and black widows. The agressive house spiderbite is much like the brown recluse but maybe a little less toxic. A spiderbite will show up as a etchy red spot with a wet center. Use a piezo electric arc from a lighter or BBQ lighter with out gas to shock the bite. Relief is immeadiate as it changes the protein that is disolving your tissue to become inert. The next day you might have a little scab where the wet spot existed...Ed

The other Rx is vitamin C which is a powerfull detoxifier. Normally injected but orally helps if no injection is available .[ do a search on Dr. Fred R. Klenner for further info]

Sorry to hear about your nephew, Tom. You and your family have our deepest sympathies.

I am very sorry to hear about this.
I know this will be no condolence at all, but thankfully these spiders are reclusive, so they don't actually bite many people.

I too am sorry to hear about your loss...

We all need to keep an eye out on out workspaces and so forth for webs and eggsacks , I'm not one of these 'love nature' types that wont kill the sack or smash the web , I would much rather be healthy and alive and deal with a few more flying bugs than have a BR or BW bite me.
I'm not sure how many BR there are here where I live but a few folks have been bitten and I better stop because now I'm giving myself the creeps , ugh I hate spiders !!

Prayers sent, sorry for your loss. Remember to live every day like it's your last.

ive been bitten by one of them bastards
lost a fist sized chunk of skin and flesh out of my back from it

best i could describe it was like a ratlesnake bite killed all the cells in the area of the bite

looked nasty as all hell but for some wierd reason my g/f at the time loved to pick at it go figure

Tom sorry to hear about this. My thoughts are with you and your family..
we have them here too.
I know a guy that got bit by one no too long ago while out hunting.. not fun
he made it, but it was it a close one for him...

Very sorry to hear this. Scary scary stuff. I've read about those spiders and it always makes me think twice when I am rummaging through an attic.

That hits home. I've got to deal with those little buggers myself living in the wood pile. I've always hated spiders.

Sorry to hear about your loss and so young too. Its a real tragedy. My sympathys to you and yours.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

My sister used to live in a home that had a few of these spiders living in the garage, which was her entrance to her suite. Luckily she was never bitten.

Thank-you to those who posted treatment information.
