First of all, I must commend Brownell's for their follow-up and excellent response to my queries. I have dealt with them for a lot of years and their service has always been impeccable. This was no exception. After this thread last week, I contacted Brownell's, pointed them to the thread and asked them if they could get us the relevant information. They sent me the MSDS in PDF format, and if someone wants to host it, I will be happy to send it along. I do not have the time right now to mail it to everyone who might want it.
The Product Data sheet was not in PDF format, but Brownell's did fax it to me. It took Brownell's a few days to find the data, but again, they were tenacious. Without further adieu, here is the pertinent information that most will want:
Recommended Use Temperature: 140 F - 160 F
Color: D8
Viscosity:
100 F - 108.5 SUS
210 F - 40.0 SUS
Flash Point: 355 F
Fire Point: 410 F
Specific Gravity
@ 60 F - 0.886
Pounds Per Gallon: 7.33
GM Quenchometer Speeds:
@ 100 F - 11.5 seconds
@ 150 F - 10.0 seconds
@ 200 F - 11.0 seconds
The manufacturer's product name has been redacted from the data sheet, but careful searching (My Google-Fu is strong
), tells me that this is probably made by Houghton International and is from their Quench-G product line. The version posted here, does not have all the detail (posted above) in the "Typical Physical Properties" section, but my hard copy has it at the bottom of page #4.
A quick glance at some other specifications puts it right in range with products such as: Parks AAA, Shell Voluta H302 and Exxon Fenso M200A. It is quite a bit faster than the Quenchtex series from Texaco/Chevron.
Note the recommended working temperatures of the oil. My contact specifically stated that the no heat recommendation on the product itself is for liability reasons. Again, many thanks goes to Brownell's for their exemplary customer service. They are a great company.
