Browning Crowell and Barker Competition Knife / To buy or not to buy?

if it makes you feel better taiwan wants its indepence from china. so by buying taiwan over china you are empowering taiwan and not china.

or just buy it or not i don't know, once you have it and use it forawhile you'll end up wanting something else anyways, thats what always happens to me.

I am thinking of going against my principles and buying a Far East made knife.

My personal way is to buy American and maybe some Europe stuff but I refuse to buy China made knives and that in the past has included Taiwan.

How dedicated to this am I? I have had the choice to buy some really good priced SOG Special Ops bowies but I wont because they are foreign made and I will save up for an American made Black Jack or Randal. I could tell you a few more stories like this.

Now here is my problem. I am really in love with the Browning Crowell and Barker Competition Knife. I have holed it and smelt it and rubbed it and I think I am in love. Can you tell me if its ok to buy one Far East made knife? I think its ok to do so to help American freedom. I think since Taiwan is breaking away from China it is my American duty to help her buy buying this knife and helping freedom grow. Any thoughts?

This may be the wrong forum for such...passion.
Out of curiosity, how do you "hole" a knife?

If you like it, buy it. I don't think it will destroy democracy.

It's a great knife grab it! If it could have been made for a reasonable price here in America it would have been.

I'm all for buying American but both Japan and Taiwan have some great factories and a long long tradition of knifemaking families who put out a great product. The east is a bladed culture and they were able to produce it for a good price.

Look fella. Either buy the knife of don't.

Do not preach world economics in the General Forum.

All I can say is...I really like mine! The handle felt a little "blocky", and in the index area, the edges of the blade were sharp. Sandpaper is your friend!

AWESOME knife for the money

Well, I think if you already "holed" it you should have to buy it!

This is not the place to discuss politics or economics. It is for the discussion of cutlery.

It's a handful of a knife, for a great price, and great design. Go for it!

If you're going to wait 'til next weekend, I'd say do that, as I believe A. G. usually gives a decent discount to those who buy things at the show. It was 25% last time I was there, if they still do that.

Of course, you still have to deal with the fairly high state and county tax, but it's still cheaper than buying online and paying shipping!

Plus, you get the fantastic A. G. Russell customer satisfaction guarantee.

I'll be there on Saturday afternoon/evening.

As some of the other posters have written, it's a well-built knife and a great value for the money. I got mine a while back from the A. G. Russell catalog.
