Can someone comment on the discontinued Ice Storm knives made by Mcusta for Browning. All Mcusta knives I have seen have been very well made and I would like to see if that extends to the ones made for Browning.

I have a couple. I could be wrong but I believe only the blade is made by Mcusta. I believe them to good knives for the money. VG-10 blades...aluminum bead blasted handles. They only complaint I would have is the weak liner lock. I can make the lock fail on both of mine with a moderate amount hand pressure.

I have three of them....like 'em a lot. Good VG-10 steel, smooth action. I've never had the lock fail on me, but, then again, I've never purposely tried to make them fail, either.

I bought 2 on close out and they are less than that now. Smooth action, super sharp. Lightweight but has a + 3.00 blade. Google for Browning Ice Storm for the link.

They were my first experience with Mcusta. I Like them, and they make nice little 'dressy' knives for special occasions, IMO.

thx - cpr

I have two, a blue ($45) one and a burgundy($25) one. I like the way the clip is made as part of the liner, but if you don't like right and tip down carry your out of luck. I've never had any problems with the locks on my, but like Troop I've never tried to make one fail. Mine holds and takes a good edge.

I have a burgundy Ice Storm and its a very nice knife. The blade is vg10, has a beautiful shape and is sharp out of the box. The handle is shaped like the MCusta Katana's and has the integrated pocket clip. The only down side I've found between the MCusta branded knives and Browning is that the Browning would need to have the rough edges dehorned. That said would the cost difference between the Browning at $20 + or MCusta at $90+ be worth it?

I have both styles of Browning Ice Storms. They seem to be finished every bit as well as my Mcusta.

Very well made and cool machined grinds on my model. Check around for best prices though.
Japanese, what else do you need to know? :p

Liner lock failure?
Folders have their limitations but mine has been very reliable.
It has a nice distinct clank when engaged.

These are a bargain!

Excellent fit, finish, and edge.

They do have that slightly oddball nonremovable clip, but for the thirty bucks or so I paid, brand new, I think they're a bargain.
