Looking for a cheap light use folder.
Browning Barracuda or Gerber AR?
What are your thoughts?

The Gerber AR 3.0 has gotten some bad reviews here, but for the price, I don't think it's that bad. You can pick one up nearly any place for cheap and if you lose it...who cares? ;)

Take a look at some of Browning other knives.
They are getting into some really nice stuff.

I second the nod to the Endura (or the Delica). Either can be found on eBay for a decent price. Look at the Spydies or even one of the CRKT offerings before you go for the others.

I have a Gerber international AR 300 in AUS8 and I feel it´s a fine knife, but I prefer my Delica in VG10 and it cost a bit less, another knife I like in similar size and less expensive is my SOG outdoor mini-autoclip, a bit softer steel but not bad (I believe it´s either AUS6 or 440A).

Haven´t tried the Browning.

I for one have used the Browning, and I have to give it my vote. Good steel (AUS-8A), good build quality, and a good price to boot! I have a barracuda 604 in my desk at work right now, and use it almost daily. No, it's not the best knife I own, but for the price it has to be the best value.

Vote for the Browning here. I have one of the smaller Barracudas and it came as one of the sharpest knives I own. I use it alot.
