Browning Quality

I have a couple of Browning slipjoints, one with jigged bone and a Small trapper with Stag, both have AUS-8 steel and seem to be decent, Japanese made I beleive.

Most (if not all) of the Browning cutlery comes out of Seki-City in Japan and is good quality stuff. The stag trapper mentioned above has a very nice fit and finish is an excellent buy at under 40 bucks. The AUS-8 steel used in the browning knives beats the heck out of Case knives "surgical stainless".

Every Browning I've owned has had excellent quality. Most have been vintage Browning USA, but I have two recent manufacture Browning's, and the quality remains high. They are and always have been contract knives jobbed out to a variety of manufactuers but they seem to manage the QC very well.

I have a fixed blade Browning that is about 30 years old and I have no complaints about it. I have 2 Browning Ice Storm folding knives and I think they are one of the best deals you will find. They have VG-10 blades and they are very smoth opening. I also have a carbon fiber Browning Piranha folding knife. I like the feel of this knife very much but the liner seems very thin in this one and it has deformed a little at the lock. I don't think this one will hold up well.

I have a few Browning slip joints, Seki blades, stag/bone... very well made.

They are marked AUS6... but they are pretty good. I think they date from the 1980's, but I am not sure.

I have a trapper in blue bone, a mini trapper with stag scales, a sowbelly, very thick chunky stag, and a small peanut, also in stag.

Can anyone tell me about the quality of browning knives?

I owned a 305 Presentation knife, it was a great little knife, AUS 8 blade. Another one of those kick myself for selling it scenarios. Other than that  .

I have a three blade Browning stockman with rosewood scales. I bought it back in the early '70's. It has 440-C steel blades, still in great shape. I'm a big fan of this knife. Don't know much about the quality of the newer models but the older ones were extremely solid. Here is a pic. of one I found but it is scratched up because of poor sharpening. Mine is still very clean and shiny.
