Due to the big heartedness and generosity of a collector friend of mine from across the sea, I acquired this fine piece recently.

It was made by Ben Tendick from 7.5mm thick 3V. It is hefty, stout and stiff.

The design incorporates a very nice, subtle arc at the edge for a slicey kind of cut.

Although this is a hefty little sword, it is nicely balanced. It generates a lot of power, and I certainly would not want to be on the receiving end.

I remember that blade. Congratulations, Lorien, great score.

thank you, but I didn't really score it, even. It just kinda found its way to me- I had very little to do with it!

indeed...

Beautiful. Simply beautiful!
Love the chopping video with the camera on the log!!! :D

Congrats on a great blade!

Very nice wakizashi. (Wish I had a friend like that.) Just curious, what is the blade length or overall length? I need my knife porn with stats.

It has a 15" blade and is just over 23" oal.

I'll be putting this piece up for sale, so if you wanna get in on it quick, drop me a pm :)

If you are selling a gift, you are an unredeemed piece of "s***", regardless of reason.

Just sayin'

not that I have to explain myself to you, dippity, but rest assured I'm an ethical person who wouldn't go and sell a 'gift', (not that I said this was one) without clearing it with the right person first.
But thanks for taking on the role of ethics police

There is no "clearing it"......if you cannot afford to accept it without burden....you don't accept it.

You have no idea of Japanese concepts.....and besides that....you are not just a small person in stature....you are small of spirit, and lacking in honor....call me whatever names you want or PM until the cows come home, it doesn't change anything.

you're clueless.

ps-
The reason I shut down this thread originally, and took so long to add these words was shear shock resulting from the blatant, crass and inexplicably confrontational tone. I wan't sure how to even respond, or to respond at all.

The thing that bothers me the most about the comments made, is the use of a straw man to impugn my character. The straw man was the incorrect assumption that this piece was simply a gift.

I've learned that non disclosure is essential to maintaining professional relationships, which is why I will not explain how and why this piece was acquired. That's no one's business.

It's one thing to jump to conclusions and keep those conclusions to yourself. Quite another to give voice to them in an open forum for all to see, as was done here.

The comments made here hurt, and have had a negative and damaging impact. The mean spiritness behind them is loathsome, and no doubt the product of years of hostility more than any real concern over upholding Japanese priniciples or whatever. I will not speculate further, since all I'm seeking to do here is to get this off my chest.

Frankly, I'm surprised a moderator hasn't stepped in and addressed the blatant attack on one forumite by another, but I'm not one to run to the mods every time someone hurts my feelings.
