Recently I had the fortune to receive this knife and sheath Bruce has been working on for me. He really nailed this and did exactly as I anticipated. I asked him to create something a bit different and he took it from there. This is one huge knife and Jere Davidson's full coverage engraving compliments it perfectly. Bruce's fiberglass sheaths are as well executed as his knives. Of course we top it off with two outstanding photo's from Coop.

The specs are as follows:

"The Judge"

1084/15N20 Mosaic Twist Damascus

Ancient Walrus Tusk scales on a solid one piece frame of 1018. Case hardened by Ralph Turnbull

12 7/8' blade, 18" overall length

Fiberglass with leather 1018 throat and tip engraved as well

3" hollow grinds on bevels, full take down design

Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I am the knife.

Thanks Bruce it was a real pleasure!

Got to hold this one at Blade, and what an exquisite monster it is. Good for you, Jon.

This is one of the nicest knives I've ever seen up close...possibly my favorite of Bruce's work so far. I just can't get over that steel! Congrats on a great new piece Jon!

Exquisite is a great word, I agree with Mr White. Well done Master Bump, and congrats Jon. Wow!

You hit that one out of the park, down the block and around the corner!

That thing is crazy- wish I could hold it! And that walrus is some of the prettiest i've ever seen.

This one is DYN-O-MITE. I spent time with it in Atlanta. If you had to pick a custom knife creation for the 2011 Time Capsule Competition, this one would make a good entry - a consesnus example of "as good as they could do in 2011" - looking back from say fifty years hence. A fine, fine piece of work.
The images Coop created help give Bruce's work, special as it is, a clear voice. Even the background speaks to its gravitas. Nice job, man.
Tip-o-the-hat to the owner as well.

So what is this considered? I don't think of it as a bowie, though its a fighter somehow right? Would this be considered a hunting sword?

Props Jon on commissioning something so out of the box and daring. I'm curious what led you to this concept?

I have never seen a knife on this forum that I wish I could see in real person more than this stunning example from one of my all time favorite makers. This takes the cake. I was in Atlanta, but unfortunately didn't see this.

Superb!!! It's hard to pry your eyes off of the knife to take in that fantastic sheath. Love the blade shape, proportions, and materials. The engraving is to die for. What a package!!! Congratulations, Jon. Stunning addition to your collection.

Jon also showed me this master piece at the Blade Show and I got to look and hold it up close...... It is just AWESOME to say the least. Amazing knife and sheath!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I was fortunate to handle this impressive piece at Blade. The slender profile makes the long blade look even loooonger than it is. If you's asked me to guess at length going from memory, I would have said 15-16" easy. Gorgeous damascus, stunning ivory and terrific engraving. And man, that scabbard is every bit as fine a piece of work. Hats off to all involved.

Everybody's on the money with the praise of this piece.

I need to point out the not-so-obvious: What is really alluring on this blade is how Bruce runs the bevel on a tight small wheel, but the edge flat runs out well beyond where the bevel would start raising again. I'm guessing it's a talented combination of two (maybe three?) diameters grinding wheels that make this hollow grind so steep and challenging.

The rest of it is icing on the cake. :)
