Bruce’s knife arrived yesterday and it’s fantastic. It's my first one from Bruce and I am now on Bruce's wait list for another.

Here’s Bruce’s description from the “Knife Makers Market” on the BladeForums.

• I call it "Ol Yeller" because of the old yellowing Westinghouse Micarta. At least it was told to me that its Westinghouse. I do know it was yellow on the outside and gets whiter as I grind into it. It will yellow again with time.
• Sandvik 19c27 blade and spring .121" thick
• Heat treated and cryo'ed by me, rc 60 blade, 47 rc spring
• Hollow ground on a 14" wheel
• Blade length: 2 15/16"
• Closed: 3 3/4"
• double pinned bullock shield
• pinched and rat tailed 410 bolsters
• hand rubbed satin 800 grit finish
• easy open blade with snappy half stop and full open
• bronze bushing

Here’s my commentary:
• The overall look and feel is very pleasing.
• I appreciate the original blade shape and design
• Rock solid build but does not seem to be overbuilt
• Fantastic fit and finish
• Fits my XL hands very well. Very comfortable in the hand. Nicely rounded.
• Outstanding variable spring tension. Never seen that before. Seems to open easy to the first half stop and then requires a little more tension after that. Nice.
• Seems to have a deeper nail nick or something that allows even my short nails to get a good hold of it. Can pinch it open too and that's cool considering the deep swedge is above the nick.
• I really like the antique micarta. Looks like ivory to me.
• Hair popping edge

What I like the most about it...is that it's from Bruce Bump! Thanks Bruce.

Congrats to Bruce and Dave, both. I'm lovin' the fade micarta, the blade shape, the grinds, the hidden tang, the perfect pocket size, everything. Just terrific!

Love the blade grind. Great swedges. The old micarta does look good. Nice job Bruce.

Nice one! Congrats to Bruce and Dave!
That old Micarta looks great, and has a nice story behind it. A favorite of custom makers on and off for many years.

Thats a big handful of a very nice knife. Congrats on getting that one.

I think "Ole Yeller" likes that tropic air. It couldnt have gone to a better home. Thanks again David.

Thanks guys for all the kind words.

That's one great lookin' knife. I have a feeling you'll enjoy that one for a long time!

I always wanted ivory but was afraid of cracking as a user...looks like I found the alternative for when I finally man up and go custom :D that looks amazing, from the pics you posted if you said it was ivory I wouldnt tell the difference.

All the credit goes to Bruce. Jump on his wait list before it's 3, 4, 5+ years. Here's some more photos that I didn't post in the first thread.

By the way, what's the history behind the aged micarta?

This shot is on a painting that my wife just finished of an endangered Native Hawaiian Bird and Native Tree.

Nice grab Dave, that's a beauty! That Bump couldn't find a better home!

That was indeed a nice knife.
I like how mr Bump has given the knife maximum length of blade and yet the tip rests deep in the handle.
Looks tuff but not overbuilt to my eyes too.
