If you like top quality traditional pocket knives, only original Bertram (Hen & Rooster) made from 1865 to 1980 is finer than the Bruckman knives made in the 1920s and 1930s. Super quality. I am buying, when I sell they sell for several hundred dollars. I am buying Hen & Rooster (old) as well.
My suggestion is that you buy while there are lots of people who put them on e-bay at low prices.
As to dates. I said in 1989 that I thought that while the name remained in the Solingen city register until 1957, it was my opinion that they had made no knives from the mid 1930s. Begining about that time Hitler would have required that all pocket knife companies retool for war production of small parts for rifles. etc, etc. I have never seen a Bruckman knife made in the post war period.
You might ask what makes me the expert? I think that only Kevin Pipes has sold more Bruckman knives than I have. I think that I own the largest private collection of Pearl and Stag Bruckmann knives around.
