Ok new guy question, don’t have a clue about 6150 steel and know a guy that says he made a mistake on buying his steel on a project
Any way, I want to make some Christmas gifts, and was thinking about some brush axes/ banana blade / sling, have a guy with a cad cutting machine to shape the blades , I will heat temp in oil , sharpen and ax handle by Christmas
Is this 6150 ok steel for these type projects or am looking for a different carbon steel?

p.s
How do I post photos on here so I can show steel stock

Should work fine if given an appropriate heat treatment.

As far as if it'll work well for the task it mostly depends on if it's appropriately thin. Ditch bank blades are usually about 1/8" thick or a little thinner. Bush hooks are usually about 1/4" but have an eye welded to them as well. With ditch bank blades you'll need some thin steel stock to form some brackets to reinforce the tongue of the handle.

6150 is good stuff. Really tough. Should work well.

How I post photos is upload to imgur, click on the three dots next to the photo and copy the link that says for forums. Paste that in here and your good to go.
