Hi all. I would like to say a few things about a killer scandi knife that my paps just bought me. It is the outdoor companion blade I have always dreamed of. If you like classic Moras -you would love this.
The brand is Brusletto. They come from Norway. The model I just received is called the “Kniven” on Ragnar's website. Here is a good picture of what I got:

If you like scandi style knives (like Mora knives), you would love this knife. The handle is made from plain birch and is 4 ¼ inches, the blade is 3 ¾ inches of high carbon stainless steel (Sandvik 12C27), and it comes with a classic style sheath made from black Leather with a hard plastic insert that covers the blade. The knife fits so snugly that you can shake the sheath upside-down really hard and the knife doesn’t fall out.
As the scandi grind approaches the tip of the blade it becomes (for lack of a better word) shorter, making the edge around the tip shorter and more durable –yet still very functional.
This knife is a performer. I tested it by carving some wood and it worked beautifully. It fits my average size hand perfectly, and feels much nicer in-hand than my old Laminated Mora –pictured here:

I would recommend The Brusletto “Kniven” to anyone looking for a good camping/ survival companion blade that would be part of a larger system, or, a stand alone blade in a minimalist system. (It is not a knife to thrash on and I would not recommend batoning with it – as that is outside if its intended design). A Mora is great as well, but If you are looking for a little more, I think this knife is perfect.
