Brute Sheath Problems, too tight

I just purchased a Brute. The sheath is so tight that that it is wearing the epoxy off the knife around the anvil. When I pull the knife from the sheath there is epoxy dust on the knife and on my hands. I thought of heating the sheath with my wife’s hair dryer, but stopped short because I was afraid I’d create more problems. Would I? Any suggestions?
