BSA utility Camillus or Imperial?

Hello all,
I recently found my old Boy Scout knife, and noticed the blade stamp reads (as best I can make out): "IMPERIAL PROV RI USA". I had thought it was a Camillus, allthough there are no Camillus markings. The knife is a ringer for the Camillus "Four blade utility #BSA045", except that the scales are black instead of red and the steel is NOT stainless. To my surprise, the Camillus catalog photo of the BSA045 appears to have the same Imperial stamp as my knife. Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered already, but were these knives made by Imperial for Camillus? or perhaps assembled by Camillus with Imperial blades? What gives? Thanks!

Frank,
Sorry for letting you fall through the cracks! We have been kinda busy prepping for the SHOTSHOW...I get on the plane @ O'dark hundred in the morning!

Tom Williams will be in a better position to answer your question, but the skinny is No, Imperial has not made knives for us. In this case, we have both made the exact same pattern knife, the The Boy Scout pattern. I can't explain the etch that you are seeing....I wnet and checked my BSA 045, and my catalog, and they are clearly stamped with the CAMILLUS tang stamp.

If we can be of any further help, please let us know..and thanks for the interest!

Thanks for the reply, Will, guess I made a mistake with the catalog picture. Good luck at the SHOT show, BTW looks like you have some real winners in this years Camillus line up! Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Hello all,
I had another look at the BSA045 shown on page 13 of the Camillus catalog, and it sure looks like it has an Imperial blade stamp to me. I hate to bring this up again, but this has got me curious. Can anyone shed a little more light on this for me? Thanks again.
