What is the board policy on this?

Is it allowed?

If so how often?

I posted a knife a couple days ago
and wanted to check before I did it.

Bumping threads in violation to the no bump rules
This infraction typically is only found in the Exchange area's of BFC.

Actually this can be typically ignored now that we've changed how the exchange works, but read it anyhow

Because of widespread abuse by certain parties, we've had to institute a "no bump" rule. Certain members wanted to keep their posts at the top of the For Sale forums listings, and as such would repeatedly post "BTT" "Bump" or engage in off topic chit chat in their For Sale thread. This is unfair to the other paying members of the website, and as such we've had to limit this behavior.

Please see the rules posted in the For Sale forum for a more complete description of what is allowed regarding this topic.

This infraction can be issued as a warning. It counts as 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months, however, it can be extended if you continue this behavior.

Basically, if you "bump" your thread it will still be on page two...
 
It really does not bring the post BTTT in the normal view. The overall thing is to not abuse it and not to step on other sellers. If we see abuse that does step on others we will take action. Right now bumping sale threads has no effect on where the thread is located in the forum so there is no stated rule at this point. The hard and fast rules are to consolidate for sale posts and to wait two full weeks before posting the same knife for sale.

We have had some who have tried to get around those rules by locking the first thread. No that is not right nor fair to others selling.


Key point I am trying to make here:

Our intent is to as much as possible keep the playing field level for all sellers. So in general it is best to stay within the intent to avoid problems. Those who try to get around the intent to keep the playing field level are going to find some hurdles eventually and the ones who keep trying to circumvent fairness eventually will be gone.
