I just got a EKA 82 to go with my old Super Swede. It has a Bubinga wood handle. Any recommendations on what kind of oil to treat the Bubinga wood with? Thanks.

It kind of depends on the part of the tree that the wood came from. Bubinga heart is resistant to finishes, but the outer layer (sapwood) will accept oil. I would say boiled linseed oil or tung would be okay. Good luck.

A tung oil product would be my guess as well.
but you always could contact EKA and see what they suggest. It only takes a few moments to compose an email anyway.

no prob, I'd like to hear myself what they suggest.
I assume that any care tips didn't come with the packaging?

I've just been counting on the oil from my hands to keep it from drying out. It seems to be working. It's been my EDC for most of '05 and looks none the worse for wear.

I just received an email from EKA reference what oil to use on Bubinga wood. The answer was linseed oil or an equivalent oil.

Just my 2 cents but I would use tung before linseed and then only apply for a few minutes and polish off , do this 3 or 4 times (letting it dry a few hours before the next coat).
The Bubinga handles I have made have turned out beautifully doing it this way and theres no 'coat' to chip off.
