Here's a recent bowie. San Mai blade, wrought iron fittings with bronze spacers. Some Eastern influence on an old design. Thanks for looking.

This is my knife.

I had asked Ben Seward Ben Seward if he was interested in doing a Musso, since i have been quite enamored with the Musso @JParanee has ever since I saw it (by far my favorite knife I had seen in a long time). He said he would be interested and that he had some ideas. So he came back with the idea of connecting the sparring/dueling bar to a hibaki and we were off. We picked some materials because I was shooting for a Sinbad/Barbary Pirate kind of vibe, and did not want a western feel (or the exaggerated clip point or curve of the belly), and that was carried to the sheath as well with the caiman skin and the frog style. The other side of the ancient walrus handle is even better since it shows cracks and character.

Ben was awesome to work with on this as he has been on the other knives he has made for me. This is my fifth knife from Ben, but unfortunately I sold the first two.

The picture is very nice, but in hand this knife is ridiculous. It's a big sexy deadly looking knife, and when you pick it up in the sheath it feels like you are holding a real substantial piece of work. A fantastic piece and absolutely the premier piece in my collection.

Oh, and Dawkind Dawkind I know you suggested a baldric rig, but I had to go with the frog set up.

jceckrosh Thanks for the insight. I often wonder how a spectacular piece like that actually comes about.

"did not want a western feel (or the exaggerated clip point or curve of the belly)"- The heritage is visible But I love the execution. The blade shape and portions are fantastic.
