Can someone enlighten me as to how do I find out?

Ola Ricardo,
I am uder the impression that BG-42 blades are a limited production nature by Buck Knives. I have several w/ this blade steel and none are regular production. I do not own a PCKS nife, but the ones I have with BG-42 are as follows; THE COMPLETE set of MASTER SERIES except the 192MS ( it should be on its way). This set consists of the following knifes.. 119MS. 192MS, 532MS, 110MS and 501MS. In addition there are a few so called "overruns" with the same steel but minus the checkering on the handle and medallion insert. These were produced in even smaller quantities according to Joe H. at Buck Knives. The overruns were a 119. 192, and 110. The blades also have shown up in a # of the 2000 Limited Ed. 532's. IF ANYONE HAS SEEN A BLUE INDIGO handled w/ this blade PLEASE let me know!!!!!!!
I also have a Buck/Strider with my club # engraved as well as #098/500 of the First Production Run knives. These are both in the higher quality BG-42 steel. I hope this sheds light on this subject!!
Peace,

To answer your question about a 532 in indigo, i own one and it is too nice to use. The knife came shaving sharp and was $70 in the Smkw catalog. I have used a master series 110 folder with the bg42 steel and it cuts circles around the 420hc. I am sure you could find one on ebay if you looked long enough.
Have a knife day and enjoy the cut.

Knife Happy,
Does your Indigo 532 have a Master Series Blade? I have one with BG-42 and I am not sure if a Indigo slipped out of Buck with the MS blade. I do have a red and brown with both types of blades. If so PLEASE email me @ MBurgaleta1@aol.com. I am trying to locate this particular blade to complete the set of Master Series Knifes AND knives with the Master Series stamped blades. Thanks in advance,

no, no it did not just slip out, there was a year 2000 run of buck 532s, in 3 types of wood with BG-42. Indigo was one of the types.

Hey all! Please let me clarify my earlier post to eliminate misunderstanding.
I am aware that the all of 2000 Limited Editions had BG-42 blades and that these knifes were available in three different colors. I DO have all three of these colors. There are some of these knifes however that have unusual blades. These knifes were produced using the left over MASTER SERIES blades from 1998. While the steel is BG-42 on all of these, some have a blade stamping of MASTER SERIES BG-42. I have both a red and brown handled with this blade as well.
Just a slightly more unusal knife than the "average" 2000 Limited 532.
I am only trying to find out if anyone has seen a Indigo handled knife with a blade stamped MASTER SERIES?????
Peace,
Mike B

Ricardo,
In Buck's 2002 catalogue, there are only two knives which have blades of BG-42. They are the Four Generations Bowie knife, and the 191 Zipper, whcih is part of a four knife set called the Family Favorites. Every time we introduce a new Strider/Buck, the first 500 pieces are scheduled to be BG-42 as well.
I hope this helps,

Sometimes Buck will use leftover blades in a production model. That would be why you have what you have. This of course means that it is also very rare.

So that means that, if I was dreaming of ordering a BG-42 Special or Vanguard, I was....dreaming.
Oh well...

Ricardo
