How much would a Buck 101 cost me
These days and where would the best place be to look for one? Not many on eBay, I understand they were discontinued and only a limited run around 2017?

They are hard to come by. When you find one they are pricey.
Sent you a PM with a link to an online dealer that has one.
Thank you for the link! Any idea if the currently made 113 Ranger skinner is a better choice for fixed edc given it’s more affordable and has a somewhat similar blade shape with a wrist lanyard hole as well than the 101? Since the 113 is the fixed 112

It's mostly a matter if you need a longer blade or shorter one. I used to switch between the 110 and 112 depending on anticipated use.

guy g, is right about the blade size. I think the 113 for EDC would be a mistake, not versatile enough, but, I have not used a 113, nor do I EDC a fixed blade.

I think that Buck's most useful fixed blade for EDC is the BCCI LE fixed blade Ranger,112 sized and shaped blade with an elk handle. Cost would be close, a little more, to the 101 from that online dealer, but you're getting a LE and an elk handle. You'd have to become a BCCI member in addition to the cost of the knife, not a bad thing.:)

The 113 is an excellent choice.
if you want a clip point, the 102 is great.
I've been thinking about trying the 117, but haven't yet.

The top three are 113s. The bottom one is a 152/112 fixed blade. The 152 is available for BCCI members, but it is pricey. The bottom picture is a 112 folder along with the 152/112. Hope this helps for size comparison. The 113 is going to be hard to beat as far as price and availability right now.

212’s are kind of hard to come by now. If I didn’t have one I’d modify a 103 Skinner into a clip point. Like DM did.

Here is a 103 compared to a 212.

I love my 212’s, but when I look at this picture I realize a modified 103 might be the better option. The higher grind line, a better plunge line, and a better sheath.

After seeing your pics of the 152 I had to go order another one. What a great knife.

I don't know if I overpaid or underpaid but I purchased a 101 with just the Dymondwood handle made in 2017 for $150. It's the only 101 I have. It was new in box. I was curious about how they looked and felt in person. Yup, it's a 110 on a stick :) I don't know why they are not more popular. I thought, if you are going to carry a 110 with a sheath, then why not carry a 101 with a sheath and it's instantly ready. It is more intimidating and probably a little easier to accidentally get cut, but it is a nice knife. Maybe the 102 is close enough, only being 1/4" longer. I just noticed the Buck's website says the blade length for the legacy 110 Richlite one is 8 5/8" - nice.

bcci did a run of 101s, well not sure if they are labeled at 101... maybe labeled 110..anyways..

had the cutout for the lock bar release and all to look like an opened 110, but a fixed blade. I didnt get one but sure someone here has one......those have got to be pretty rare. I'd think.....

It was labeled as a 101. The coa says 75 were made.

There have also been some limited run versions. This one is jigged horn and bone.

There are some other Joe Houser versions out there. I use to have one that was smooth Buffalo horn with a Micarta bolster.
