I picked up a Buck 106 axe.
Someone, in 1973 engraved their name and date.
It was done, tastefully, not huge, hardly noticeable.
The axe is otherwise unused.
Does this take away from the value at all?

Thanks,
Chad

If your going to collect them... Maybe... If you use it who cares...

If your going to sell it... Some guys don't like etching on there

Blades of any kind...

How about some pic's... :)

I would say it takes away from the collectable value. If it is not too deep you could also get the engraving removed by someone who knows what they are doing. Let me know if you need a recommendation.

I'll see what I can do for photos....
I have not had good luck with BF and Iphone.

I'm sure there's a sticky to get it figured out...

Yes, there is. Look at the top of the Buck index page and read, 'how to post photos'. It's a pain but I hope you can figure it out. DM

YOur axe Buck made from 1968-71. Plus, some one engraved on it and played with it on their drill press. As that didn't come from the factory. Still, a good find. DM

Yes, looks like Ray also tried to jewel the middle portion of it. Not horrible but I think the collectible value of it is hurt.

Yes, someone. The jeweling can easily be removed, leaving the name and date. I don't think I would attempt to remove the name. DM

Thanks I didn't realize the "jeweling" was not factory.
I'm pretty sure I could not purchase a modern axe of any kind for what I paid for this one.

Take it hunting and be happy, not too much collectable value here?

Thanks for the input guys!
Chad

tough call on that. It's a two liner...if you are not into Buck collecting I'd use it. IF you are, I'd keep it and buy the new axe they have.
