Today at auction I found a buck 107 X NIB. I know the X stamp makes it an 1990. My question is what are the years of production for this model? Thank you for your time and help!

The 107 first appeared in Buck's catalog in 1976 and was a catalog item through 1991.

From '76 through '83 they had three rivets in the handles and a bolster/guard. In '84 they changed and after that they had two larger rivets and no bolster/guard. They looked much more like the paring knife from my Empress Trio set after that. Paring knife may have been the inspiration for the model to begin with.

Here's my pre-'84 version, my '89 version and the paring knife from my Empress Trio.

A size comparison with a 119.

Plumber, Yes thanks. Good job with supporting photos. Paring knife is correct. The Empress Trio set came out in 1973 and it was found that many guys liked the small paring knife and carried it fishing and hunting.
So, Buck brought it out later as a model. This was Buck's first model with a drop in pouch sheath. As soon as I saw one I bought it and carried it hunting and fishing. Its very close to a 110 in length just not as wide. Plus, it was full tang with micarta handles and light weight with a blade of 440C. A nice package. I carried mine exclusively until the Selectors came out in 90 (single blade). Also, notice those are stamped on the left side as were the model 200's. I enjoyed it and its a decent skinner. I liked the 103 better as a skinner but its a good bird and trout knife. Its more knife than what you think. DM

I love the history lessons I get from all you guys.....thanks!!!

Wish I could say it all comes from memory, but that's not the case. I have to go back and dig into the old catalogs and info for most of this stuff. ;)

PDave...your pics clicked something in the feeble about the Empress set, so naturally I had to look at the 107 in mine. So maybe shifting gears here a bit, is your empress the 3 small pin micarta three liner? Or the large 3 pin more rosewool looking sideways two liner?

Just curious, just don't recall the different varations of the Trio. Mine is a two liner with the script Buck 3 small pin black micarta. No 107 on the Trios and not sideways.

Just wondering....cornfused as always.

Yep, the set is just as you see in the picture.

Cool...Haven't seen that set before. Will have to look for them. I like the sideways script

Just for comparison and information:
here's the old 107 and the small knife from the micarta
empress trio wit the front bolster.

Pack, Mine are just as Haebbie pictures. Left hand stamp, two different letter styles, two different micartas (the more open grain is older) and 3 small pins. The maroon micarta Empress Trio set is the first, 1973 circa. DM
