A buddy asked me to sharpen his Buck 107 U.S.A.(3 lines), micarta, 3 pin w/stainless(?) bolster. I usually try to find out what I'm working with and have 2 questions.

What type of steel is this?
Was it originally hollow ground?

What I have looks like a hollow grind with a convex edge.

If you have big stones(no pun intended:D) or powertools I'd recommend flattening out the convex bevel and putting a zero grind on but you might want to see what his preference is first... I just did that to my sebenza the other day(originally hollow grind with convex edge) and man does it cut like a laser now!

Kwak, Welcome . The steel on that model Buck is 440C and yes they were originally hollow ground with a convex edge . The angle on those early 70's knives was 22-23* .
You could rebevel it to todays 15-17* and it will cut quicker . Your call . DM
