So my buck 110 has the little round inlet in the handle "100 years Buck Knives 1902-2002"

Is this really some kind of limited edition version that could be of some value someday or may I continue skinning elk with it? :o

I was always kind of bummed that it had that little button on there... I always wanted the classic buck 110 look. Maybe I'll have the handle redone in stag.

If it's already been used in the field and sharpened, I'd say just go ahead and use it. If not, I'd put it away and pick me up a user at Walmart. They're cheap enough there.

With knives like that there are usually a zillion of them around in NIB condition......which means it will take 100 years or so for them to become valuable knives.

We keep them as non-users, I guess, because one likes looking at them in pristine condition.

Putting stag on that thing and using it would be an excellent move.

When you want to retire it and hang it on the wall.......Buck will polish it up real nice for you for a nominal fee.

:)

+1 here
if used keep useing it !!
if you want to collect them yes it is one that should be had in new condition while they are still cheep
as bg said they made a lot of them

It would also depend on which model it was. I have more than one of the 100th year 110's with the medialion in the handle. One of them is a Limited Edition with the charcoal scales and NS Bolsters. It's serial numbered #232 but I don't know how many were made.

Nice, thanks for the feedback everyone.

The trusty 110 stays on my belt. :-)

Geeze,,,so it will take all the way to Great Great Grandkids for these few I still have in the clampacks to be worth anything.... bummer....:rolleyes::D

Yeah......and that's assuming that there will still be people interested in knives by that time.

:D

I guess so, Pack Rat. Looks like you'll just have to sell one to me. ;)

100th Anny has been my number 1 edc since getting it in 2002-1/16" of tip broke off-just enough to p**s me off but not enough to send back. Wasnt even considering collecting at the time but now sometimes wish I woulda left it in the box but no safe queens here at the Fritz house:thumbup: I scope em on the bay at times and sooner or later will see the deal I'm looking for and pull the trigger.:)

To EDC or not...If you put the Stag on it why not go ahead and still use it? I like having a cool, classy, collectible Buck on my belt, but some of my 112's I display I would never consider using.I have a 118 'Personal' in D2 steel that is the best cutting knife I have ever held in my hand..But some folks consider it a collectible Buck and think I'm crazy for using it..KathyJo once told me in reference to my BCCI club 111,"Who are you saving it for ?"

I agree with her ! We, us collectors tend to think the next person getting these (our knives) will wipe off the finger prints and keep them in a nice display and take them to shows and pay good money just to let people look at them and talk about them . Maybe but I'm not betting on it . I'll keep my display models nice and use some of the others and their older than the 100yr. Anniv.. But I don't mind I'll enjoy some while here . DM :)

The 'Super Steel' Bucks are the toughest call of all because they make great users..I love D2...

Nobody's mentioned it but some of those first 110 100yr. Anniversary knives had it etched on the blade and the medallion in the slabs like Dagwood mentioned . Mine with the medallion I didn't mind using but the one etched I didn't use . DM
