I've been looking at some pics of 110's on the forums, they look like really nice knives. I really like the look of them, and wouldn't mind adding one to my collection. But then I've seen the 112's also, which are also nice.

From a practical stand point, what are the major differences between the 110 and the 112. What can one do for me that the other cant, and vice versa.

I'm sure this sounds like a green question, but I appreciate anyone's thoughts, advice, and the like.

the only real difference imo is size 112 is a little smaller than a 110 some like the 112 because u can carry in pocket with a little more comfort than a 110 i have both of each my 110s for the most part are users the 112s when i don't want to belt carry [watch out because it' impossible to buy just one ]

thats what i thought when i got my first one but it's like the potato chip commerical u can't eat just one :D:D

No fan of Buck knives can just have one 110!!!
My knives that I belt carry are laid out on top of an old deceased printer (the scanner still works) and among the more than several knives are three 110s. 1st and most favored is my BG42/G10 LE, 2nd is a Devin Thomas Damascus with Stag, 3rd is a 3 dot frame that has been rebladed with a 2008 S30V blade. Ah so you see if you think about it...all three have distinct feels and personalities.

I only have one 112 in the EDC group and its a S30V Stag knife that sees pocket duty but is in a sheath with the other belt carry knives.

You need at least one of each!!

Get a Buck 110 and 112 all in the same knife...

Well Cobb,

As you state you want it or them for your collection. Is your collection for using or looking at?

For using I like a 110:
AG 110 skinning a Buck

For looking at:
110 or 112 will do

Howdy Cobb!
the 112 was made because sailors could not have a knife with over a 3 inch blade
this was enforced after a fight on the USS Ranger on the whole base
many sailors were snaping off the last bit to be allowed to have
the Navy and the sea have always been speachal to the Buck's
as Hoyt and Al both were sailors ..
so Al had the 112 made so the sailors could carry a buck while on ship..

other wise you can do with one what you can do with the other
BUT
the 112 is the perfect size for Girls
as they tend to have smaller hands then Men.

(did any of you old timers think i would pass this up?)
hee hee hee
no offense i started to collect the 112 my self tell
bucksway started

get the 110 you cant go wrong. i absolutely love it it may seem big at first but if you wear it on a belt like i should be... it will feel right at home. I have a studded belt so it doesn't really fit through the loop on the sheath. it usually stays in my backpack or my pocket. but getting back to the knife, its amazing and you will love it!

Clyde,JB and Dave,I knew you would start posting that stuff that makes me start spilling filled glasses around my computer.I like both.Welcome Cobb.Go to a swap meet or knife store where they allow you to handle them. Then purchase what you want and enjoy it.DM

If your collecting...The 110 has a bigger fan base, more LE's and SE's ect.. ect.. BUT for a user...Finger Groove 112 is the best..

"...Haha, why would I need to buy two 110's, lol..."

Because the need dosen't stop at one. It is only after you get it that the need becomes obvious.

In my local area "belt carrying" isn't really the most socially acceptable way of carrying a knife. A lot of the locals are senior citizens in the golfing community, and house wives, and stay at home moms that freak out over any kind of knife. Would the 112 be better for pocket carry?

Cobb,

Heres a photo for back pocket carry of any lockback Buck up to 110 size. Not available off the shelf. If you know someone who works leather you could get them to make you one to see how you like it. Maybe someone will see thread and contact you. The one pictured was made by forum member RudderJT, he refs high school football so is busy now considering turn around if he would make one........several folks use this some and small wallet can even fit in beside sheath. I would want mine folded from the right side so knife sets to the right side of right pocket. 300Bucks
