Ive just noticed that the knives in the boxed set are serialized xxxD/500D
I understand the reason to number them differently than the single issues, but why the letter D?

I just had a thought, maybe because it's a 4 piece set A B C D. I never read anything about it anywhere....

It will be interesting to know. Hopefully someone either from here or from Buck will solve the mystery.

My boxed sets only go from xxxD/110D….not the 500D like in your first post.

Just a guess, could the D mean they are from a display set and not an individual knife?

You're right Mark about /110D. I mixed that up with the singles. gsea I bet that's what it is! Good call.

The letter D is the Roman Numeral for the number 500, but it would seem to be a little redundant to have 500D which would be 500 twice.

"D" stands for display according to a Buck rep. I spoke with at the factory in Post Falls, ID.
These were limited to 110 sets, so all sets & knives should be numbered accordingly as "xxxD/110D"
