Hey guys-

I just purchased a Buck 110 Alaskan with the s30v and it has the Anvil with the 50 on the tang. I went through several boxes at store looking for decent scales and this was the only one with the anvil and 50 on the blade. Is this normal or a rare one? It is not the standard anniversary knife.
Any thoughts on it before I use it.

Thanks
Mark

Bit of a story on that one. Wanting a 110 AG with the 2014 50th tang mark I made the 75 mile round trip to the local Cabela's back in June only to find out the knife was not in stock. Fast forward to last month I made the trip again. They had 2 in stock. The box with an Aug/2014 label date contained a knife with the standard 2014 date code and the other box with a Sept/2014 label date contained a knife with a standard 2013 date coded tang. At this point I thought they were not going to make the 110 AG with the Anniversary tang mark. Just before Thanksgiving Cabela's had the Alaskan Guide knives on sale on-line so I ordered two. I received 2 110 AG's with the Buck 50th tang mark. The label date on the box for both was 10/07/2014. It appears the the 110 AG with the 50th tang mark will be rare if they only started making them in October and I can't imagine Cabela's sells that many AG 110's compared to the standard 110.

A quickie picture from the desk. Note that the tang marks are etched, not stamped.

The Alaskan Guide with the 50th tang stamps was and will only be made for the last few months of this year. The 110AG ha not been discontinued.

I just looked at a few yesterday but none had the 50th tang stamp. I have however been able to pick up 3 so far with the 50th stamp. All dated after September.

I failed completely to obtain any 50th 110 Alaskan Guides. I ordered and received two this week and both were mfg in August with the 1/2 target tang stamp so I returned them to the store. No joy. Sorry Stumps.

The Tualatin store suggested the Seattle store as it is larger.

Thank you for the photos of the 50th tang stamp. Now I know how to describe it to the store clerks.

Oregon - That explains the 2 that they had at the Tualatin store when I stopped by there yesterday that had the older stamp. I have received 3 so one way or another between the two of us Mr Stumps will get his knives.

You are lucky lucky lucky. Consider buying a lottery ticket soon and when you win don't forget who your friends are!'\

This neck of the woods is a backwater, pedestrian, cow pasture kind of place where business inventory can sit for ages or longer. Your upscale erudite inhabited stamping grounds demand fresh inventory all of the time and not just juggling inventory from one cow pasture store to another. Ahhh, the big city, the bright lights, has advantages.

I just looked at the box and mine also has a date of 10/7/14 on it. That must be the lucky date for the anvil and 50. I went back to store and they didn't have any more. I will have to keep checking, they don't know if they will get anymore in. Thanks for the replies guys. I will keep it in safe for now. I bought one of the other ones for a EDC.

Thanks for thinking of me on the AG110's James and Steve!!
I decided to give a try for the 50th Anniversary AG110's and ordered a couple yesterday. Will let you know if they have the 50th Anniversary etch…keeping my fingers crossed. :)

DeSotoSky, I have printed out your photo of the target tang and placed it into my wallet. I am off to the OKCA mini meet, one day, today in Eugene looking for a Geo Schrade large utility spear point to complete a collection. The owner of the meet has one. However, there is a Cabelas nearby so I am armed with the photo so any clerk willing to search will have a target. Bless you and thank you.

I have one also, the blade grind is way off,not the edge but the grind line on one side with nail nick is crooked, the other side is ground right, yourslookscto be crooked as well.im keeping it though

I ordered two online last week. They came yesterday and were the 50th! Born date was 10-30-2014.

Congratulations and well done. I can't wait to see the group photo. BTW, just how hard is it to fit a wide angel lens to you camera? :). I understand that a 360 degree camera has been invented!
