Is there some sort of reference, hopefully with pictures, with the different Buck Factory Sheaths for the 110 and 112 with a time frame when they were used?

Thanks DM. Maybe someone else has one? Do you have any other info about them?

Roamad I added the 112 to my original post. Thanks for bringing it up about the 112.

For the newer readers here........searching Google often will get you far more than trying to use the BladeForums search.

This is for the new guys I hope this helps you out .

This tan sheath was the very first 110 sheath made it is very rare
made 1964 only and only a handful were ever made , maybe 20 or so .

The next pic shows the 110 sheaths used over the years
perhaps someone can nail down the years they were used .

I hope this helps and enjoy .

Sheaths are tricky because they often found some that had been laying around for a while and used them.......thus confusing people when they came along a while after they should have.

Then too......sheaths often get separated from the correct knife and that mismatching adds to the chronological confusion.
That middle black 110 sheath is a '68 to '69 era, but that's all I can say.

The fold over sheath was an optional one in the mid 90's. If the knife came with the standard sheath it was model 110 cat #381. If the knife had the folded sheath it was listed as model 1110 cat #1702. Interestingly, the knife with the folded sheath was a couple dollars cheaper. It is listed in the price list but not the catalog. /Roger

I know nothing about sheath history but I do prefer the older sheaths that sit low on the belt. I've even bought a couple old broken knives as long as they had that type of sheath. Usually they are 2dot 110's and 112's that have them.

I found this info in the 110/112 data sticky. Preston

Sheaths:

A. Angeles Souvenir—late 1962 to late 1967. Thin leather, BUCK on snap, no rivets, no model number.

B. Atcheson Leather—late 1967 to early 1969. Leather, BUCK on flap, Model #, tooling lines and dimple rivet on belt loop.

C. Buck leather shop—started early 1969.

1) Leather, BUCK on snap & flap, tooling lines on belt loop. Used maybe 2 years?

2) Leather, BUCK on snap and flap, plain belt loop, model # on back.

That's smart. Sometimes the sheath can be worth a lot more than the knife it contains.

I'm sorry I thought this was the Buck Forum where you talk about and ask questions about Buck Products? Am I in the wrong Forum?

Vorpal you have been on this forum 5 months less than me. I have been collecting knives for almost 40 years. I like asking questions from people who actually have the products and have used them not what Google says. If what you say is true why the Buck Forum?

Thank You for the pictures D-RIG and pjsjr.

D-RIG I have one like the brown one but it's black. It looks like the black one you have but not as good of condition.

Nice Sheaths guy's!!

I think you misunderstood what I said.

You will get more information if you search Google than if you use the BladeForums search function.

Many of the hits will lead you back to threads here on the Buck Forum, but for some reason they don't show up when you search here. You also get hits on the same questions from other forums. It's quite effective.

I've been around a few years, too......I'll be 71 this fall.

:)

I apologize, I thought you were calling me a "new reader" on the forum. I like the Buck Forum for the reasons stated and I'm not interested in doing google or another Forum.

We need to support this Forum it's here because of the interest in Buck Knives and their products. Otherwise, it will turn into some others like K*b*r.

True, I have noticed that Google searches will find topics on the forum but never noticed if one was more productive than the other.

It is possible to use Google advanced search to perform a site specific search.
https://www.google.com/advanced_search

One of the fields allows you to set the site or domain.
In that field, type in www.bladeforums.com

All of the results from such a search will be posts here on BF.
I sometimes do that if I'm performing a complex search.
The search function on the new software is better than the one on the old software, but Google does allow for a more complex set of search criteria.

Here's the simple way to use Google to search Bladeforums...

In Google's search bar, type what you're looking for followed by "site:bladeforums.com"

Example- type this in google's search bar: buck onset site:bladeforums.com
That will return only results on bladeforums.com

This works for any site. Say you're looking for Buck knives on Knife Center - buck knives site:knifecenter.com

You're welcome
