A couple months ago, I saw a Buck 110 that someone installed a kit to make it an automatic. Can anyone get one of these kits and if so, where? I feel good about making/building things with my hands so this seems like it would be a fun project. Plus, Cabela's has Buck 110 knives with S30V blades!
BTW, the picture I saw looked really good and professional, whoever did it.

There is no such kit in existance, that was a troll just trying to stir up the muck.

Would be nice if one was put together because I'd be all over it.

110's are fairly easy to customize though, and for $30 there's not many easier platforms to work on. Just wouldn't be an auto.

The Cabela's 110 rocks, no better value out there right now IMO.

There isn't a kit for the 110, But there is a shop that converts them to auto.I beleive it would take a milling machine to cut the slot in the handle for the release button, But I could be wrong. If you look on that auction site, there is usally one or more for sale. I've been lusting after one for a couple of years now! I haven't seen one converted with S30V though.

I don't know why there isn't a kit....seems like the interest would be there....I'm sure Paragon could make enough money off of a pin/spring/bolster/blade kit-o-parts......all you would need to do is dig out a circle for the button in the handle slab.

Would definitely cost more than the 110 itself....there wouldn't be much cost savings....but the fun factor would be there.

frankly, i've had so much fun with mine...I'm considering taking it apart just to play around with it so more - tighten/true it up a bit.

Thanks for the comments. It's funny though because I thought I remembered the person posting saying it took him a while, but he finally turned his 110 into an auto and had a picture. The button wasn't round though, it was like a rectangle with round ends. Oh, well. Thanks anyway.

There are a couple of places on the internet that sell the converted 110's and 112's. Check them out and you'll find 110 auto's as cheap as 90.00. I've got a 112 apart right now putting ram horn scales on it. Just remember when you disassemble any Buck knife you void the warranty.

There might not be a kit in existence, but there sure are a lot of converted 110s walking around. I live in a state where autos are legal to collect, and many dealers have coverted buck 110s. There appears to be about three different styles. The most common has a round button in the bolster. The most expensive has a hidden scale release, so your 110 looks totally legal. I did read a post on this forum that a lot of the converted 110s came from a single shop that is no longer in business.

I'd be interested if you could find out who makes the scale release auto 110, brownshoe.

Paragon makes a level release
SWAT makes a button release
Cumberland used to make one - no longer - rumored to be the best
