Buck 110 Automatic Questions?

There's a guy who shows up at local gun shows with a table of autos. The only ones that interest me at all are the modified 110s. I don't own any automatics, but am considering adding one to my accumulation.

It would not be an EDC, or even see much use. Is there anything to look for, or avoid if I decide to purchase one? Is there a reliable source of 110 or 112 conversions other than this random gun show guy? What should I expect to pay? Seems the gun show guy was in the $120 range, and he will be in town this weekend.

Any advice or input would be most welcome. Thanks.

Understand that Buck won't warranty the knife if anything goes wrong with it. Since it's been modified they can't support it.

There are good mods and bad mods. One is a notch cut into the blade and the other is a divet put into the blade. I forget which one is better though. Sure someone who knows will be along soon though.

$120 doesn't sound too bad if it's a good conversion and you like it.

One is a notch cut into the blade and the other is a divet put into the blade.

As I recall, the notch versus the divet has to do with whether the knife is single or double action, but I can't remember right now which is which. Again, if I remember correctly, Cumberland Knife Works has the reputation for the best conversion.

Here's a pair of 110 double action autos...They went for $135 each about 10 years ago; probably more now...

The double actions can be opened by your fingernail or by the button...

All openings are EDM wire-cut; action is smooth and quick. Brass bolstered 110 auto's may go for less; I don't know...

These were very well done, but the shop that did/does the work is not interested in advertising, and I respect that...
