Hi to all! This is my first post ,
I was wondering if there is a buck blade that can replace the 110 blade mine is pretty shot it's been re sharpened a lot and the locking spring dosent work all that well if you turn the knife upside down the blade drops out about 1/4 of an inch .
I seen on you tube a conversion with a 112 with a 482 blade and it looks really nice , I was wondering if there was one for the 110 ,
Any help would be appreciated thanks !

Hi and welcome,

Unless you just don't like the blade, why not send it in to Buck and have them give it a new one? I am pretty sure that is covered under their warranty, although someone may need to correct me. Lots of companies put new blades on, if not for free than a very small fee.

if youre not interested in a factory fix, theres a fella on bookface that works only on Buck knives (ive seen his 112s with the 482 blade)....hes not hard to find, and does fantastic work

I really wanted to do it myself ,I likes the 112 conversion and have the 110 collecting dust because of how weak the spring is and if I was to find a blade that fit and it had a thumb knob I would give it a shot ,
As far as returning it to buck I don't know if they would warranty the knife because of me sharpening it over the years it was bought in the 80s so I figured I messed that up by sharpening it

Please....be patient and send that knife back to Buck for refurbishment. I think when you get it back you'll be very glad you did. :)

Those guys respect a well used older knife and its owner.

The 486 blade fits right in and has a thumb stud built in. The bushing in the 486 is a wee bit smaller than the 110 bushing. You can either swap the bushings or drill the 486 with a 1/8" bit.

I've been wondering about this myself. I was thinking about doing that to one of mine. I've done the 112 conversion and it turned out pretty nice. However, if you send your knife in to the factory, they will replace the blade for $10. Sounds like it needs a new spring too. They can fix all of that and it'll look brand new

the thing is I do have another 110 mint and another that I wrote buck about to get some info on it just haven't heard back from them yet, I would really like to customize this one ,I love doin things like that I've done a few handguns and to be honest I've been wanting to do a 110 but I figured ,where better to go then here ! And as it looks I'm getting a lot of help ! If I do decide to customize it I'll post some before and after pics heck, if I send it back to buck I'll post and let everyone know how I made out , I'm thinking changing out the wood and replacing it with Eather oak or cocobolo wood any opinions on that ??

Go w/ the cocobolo....harder and prettier. Just don't end up with it in a cheap snap pouch where it gets ground up by the snap back.

Yeh ,I've seen that happen a lot , really nice pieces wrecked from the snaps ,trust me that won't be happening with mine!

So I just Googled the 486 and they are about $22-$25. So you could send your 110 to Buck, pay $10, and get a new blade. Or buy a 486, pay $24, and put that blade in your 110 yourself. Is the 486 shape and thumb stud worth the extra $15? I'm guessing both warranties go out the door at that point.

I like the 486 blade a lot better than the 110 blade. Wish they offered the 110 with that blade.

If you do the 486 blade swap, just make sure to also swap the lockbar, spring, and blade pivot bushing :)
For a better fit :)

Hmmmm you guys got me on top of the fence tendering back and forth ! Maybe I should just send it in on warranty and forget about the swap it dose make sence this way but if they don't warrenty the knife .......its gettin operated on!

I think you would be very surprised at how well it will turn out when you send it in.

The only question in my mind is, would they put in an S30V blade for you? :)

I think it depend on what you want.

If you want a clip point, have Buck replace your blade with a new one.

If you want a drop point, then either you or somebody else can put in a 486 blade.

Good call; first thing I do with every knife I buy with a sheath, if it hasn't already been covered with material, is glue a small piece of felt over that exposed piece of metal.

I don't really mind my knives showing signs of use or wear; but no point in speeding up the deterioration by frequently removing and reinserting it without that simple fix.

Here you go Hdd... A few pictures... The 486 (110) Max is always in the bay if you go
looking for one... The Max 486 is not that expensive... You might want to make a small
groove in the handle for the thumb stud will be a little easier to get to and to open... ;)

Hdd, Welcome to the Buck part of the Forum...

:)

That's a nice piece early ! Why is it that some I see the buck on the blade and some I don't dose your , I don't see it just curious ,that's a great job did you do it yourself ? Did you put a groove in your knife , I don't see one ,
And now I'm back up on the fence rockin back and forth !!!:)
