The smaller one was from the sixties and very early seventies when they used to ship the knife in the sheath. The larger one will have the knife separate from the sheath in the box. I think that was because the tannic acid(from tanning) in the leather would cause the brass to discolor more when the knife was stored in the sheath. Take care.

Thanks Dick. This is the only one I have seen. I looked at the other two liners that I have in boxes and noticed that the one that came in this box had the BUCK/U.S.A. stamped opposite of the nail nick side (pile?). That might help date the box. I'm not sure what year they were stamped this way.
