I just received a Buck 110 Version 3 from online and the brass has been polished. I can't see any butt rivets to help identify the Variation. Does anyone have any tricks to make the rivets show better. The seller thought it had 3 and 1 which would be Variation 5, but I can't see them. I need help. Thanks.

Try this: Soak a very small piece of paper towel with vinegar and put the paper towel and knife in a small plastic bag for 20 to 30 minutes. I usually place the paper towel so it isn't touching the knife. The fumes from the vinegar will give the brass a patina and often helps to see the rivets. Once done, if you don't want the patina, just clean the brass.

bertl, thank you so much. I will do it and hope for the best. Thank you so much for your help.

Someone previously said to put the knife in the freezer for a bit. When it's cold and you remove it, blow on it. This should show the rivets.

Sawgrass,

What version is it?

bertl.
It is a Version 3, Variation 3. I couldn't see any butt rivets showing but I did your vinegar method and when I took it out I could fairly easily see 2 on the left side and none on the right side. I knew it was a Version 3 because of the thickness. I really appreciate the vinegar idea. I have tried freezing, but it didn't show rivets. Thanks for that good suggestion.
